And my son deserves nothing less than a cake that fits within the current theme of the year: Simple. Thanks Armin for picking a fish and loving this design. You're super. I didn't even need a piping bag for this, except for the lettering part. My mom helped do the scales, because without a piping bag I'm apparently handicapped. Omid, Reza, and Lauren helped me figure out his mouth and that's about all there was to it. Very simple. Only took a couple of hours altogether.
And now, I believe I have no more cakes on the docket until at least October. I definitely don't see myself doing anything until at least then. I'm getting bigger and even Armin's simple cake took it's toll on my back. Even October is questionable. With a new baby due in August, we'll see how things go and how much time I seem to have. And what kind of cake BFF might want for Wyatt. Will she keep with the current theme of simple? Or is it possible I get my mojo back and decide to go all out again? We'll see!

Ashlyn & Elizabeth's 6th Birthday, March 2010
Keeping in line with the theme, remember, the theme from December 09 on, is simple. I was able to make a Hannah Montana wish come true with a guitar pan, starred in white and spray colored in blue, pink, and purple. Not half bad I don't think. Simple might be my new wave of the future :) There were cupcakes too. Also done in white and spray colored with little jewel rings on top. Oh my goodness do kids go nuts over cupcake rings or what!? I don't remember them when I was a kid, but boy do they love them.

Reza's 20th Birthday, October 2009
Well, I thought I got a picture of this cake, just itself. If I find one later I guess I can edit, but for now, it was an array of cupcakes, designed and laid out in 9-ball format with the cue ball off to the side. I really like how this turned out. Pretty much perfect if I do say so myself. For cupcakes, they were a lot more time consuming than one would think and a little painful to see them all be gone in about, oh 30 seconds.

Dad's 60th Birthday, Feb 2010
And from this point on, the theme becomes simple. Good thing I already had some red mixed up because I was not about to make some. At this time, early in my pregnancy I was just tired and run down and feeling, well, flat out lazy. As much as I wanted to go "all out" for this cake, I came close to buying one. But I picked a simple, yet fun design that I could feasibly accomplish in a reasonable amount of time. All in all I think it came out great. And, I've got to work on my writing. :)

Mahan's Birthday
I was so disappointed that I was not able to make a cake for our friend's son, Roham in September because I only found out a few days before his birthday and couldn't plan something or gather the supplies in time. But we decided that I would do their other son's birthday, Mahan, in December instead, so I had plenty of time to plan from September to December :) I looked at tons of designs until I found the right one and then searched through different accessories to go on the cake until I found something I could be happy with. I really like how it came out in the end. The snow on the top was the advice of my husband, Omid. He always brings something creative to the table. I got to play with different techniques and had a great time with it. I'm so glad I had the opportunity. It also marked the last "major" cake I would do, since this was the time I had just found out I was pregnant. Time for a cake break :)

Baby Shower
Baby shower cake for Cynthia. I put the baby's initials on the outside and about a month later realized I had meant to put little dots all around. It would have been so much prettier that way, but oh well. Things happen and I remember having some strange out of the blue knee pain and wondering if I would even be able to finish the cake at all.

Wyatt's 2nd Birthday
Here's a cake I made for my BFF's little boy for his 2nd birthday. This was before my pregnancy and probably the best cake I made all year. No real major shortcuts taken. It was quite fun to make and I really like the colors. I love the cupcakes too.
